Austin and Lauren

How We Met

Austin and I met back in 2008 when we were  about 13 years old. I had just moved to a new school not knowing many people. I was so nervous, and so shy, and meeting new people was so scary to me. As I walked into my English class, he was the first one who made me smile on such a scary stressful day. I instantly knew I met someone I connected with on such different level than anyone else. His humor, his smile and laugh, he made me feel so comfortable and at home, I could tell him anything, and that was it, we were best friends till the end. We did most of everything together, as much as we could. Many people in our lives always told us we would be together, it was going to end up happening “someday”, and we shook it off because we both were living our own lives, oblivious to what was going to happen in the years to come. Those people who told us we would end up together, were right. First and foremost, he is my best friend, he always has been that and always will. He was always the call when I needed advice, or comfort, and he knew exactly what to say better than anyone in the world knew how. As time passed, we went separate ways, but we always stayed connected no matter the barriers, people, or time in between. I always got a “Happy Birthday” text every single year, he didn’t miss one. I was always checked in on, and vice verse. We never let each other go fully, because in the back of our minds, there was always something more than what we had always said to each other. I love you was normal, because we did love one another, but life happens, and timing is everything. It just wasn’t our time. Little did we know, the stars would align, and everything would be right. On July 28th, 2017, we planned to meet and catch up and all it took was locking eyes with one another. I was on the sidewalk in downtown Nashville, and I hear someone yell “LAUREN” from a truck coming down the strip. I whole heartedly believe that look meant everything, time slowed down and i can remember it like it just happened yesterday, i believe that was the first look into forever for us. And it was. After that night, we couldn’t get enough of each other, I remember the chills and the anxiousness and butterflies the both of us had, and we were just excited. Excited to be best friends again, excited to spend time with each other, excited to just be in each others presences, because nothing ever seemed as fun over the last 8 years without each other. About a month or so later, Austin asked me to be his girlfriend on September 11, 2017, it was so beautiful, he had a candle lit path in the woods with string lights hung from tree to tree and a bouquet of roses. He took my by the hands, looked me in the eyes, and asked me to be his girlfriend, but he wasn’t just asking me to be his girlfriend, he added he is asking me to be his girlfriend with every intention of me being his wife one day as soon as he could make it happen. *cue the waterworks*, of course I said YES! I used to scream Taylor Swift songs in my car driving through the little small town we met and grew up in, and now I am finally dating the man of my dreams! My 8th grade crush, my best friend after all of this time. It was happening!! Over this past year, we have shared so many sweet moments and milestones, and have made up for all the lost time and memories we didn’t get, big or small. We have hopped the fence to our middle school/high school football field and he homecoming walked me off of it, we have traveled to some beautiful places around the world, we have taken many back road drives just talking about life, we have made a house a home, we have spent nights in tears from being so overjoyed about how perfect and love filled our lives are together. Countless moments I never thought I would get with this man, but all the time apart makes you realize what really matters, and teaches you how to love with a deeper love, especially when you get to love your soulmate after all the times you thought it was too late. Austin and his dad own a machine and tool shop, one day back in July 2018 I got devastating news he had to leave for the weekend and go to Dyersberg, Tennessee for work that needed to be done urgently, except he didn’t go to Dyersburg, he flew himself, his mom and his little sister to New York City to pick up my engagement ring from Forever Diamonds that he had been designing secretly for months. I had NO idea. This was a big, intricate scheme that everyone knew except for me! I have dreamed of a ring from Forever Diamonds for YEARS. Like I said,  I ~dreamed~, I never knew my dreams would become a reality. This man, he goes above and beyond in everything he does, he never ceases to amaze me. On August 17, 2018, I thought I was going to Cheekwood Botanical Gardens in Nashville Tennessee to watch a bluegrass band. This seemed normal to me considering my dad plays music and knows several musicians around the area, as well as Austin, he has a burning love and passion for bluegrass music. Little did I know, my little best friend from 8th grade, was going to get down on one knee and ask me to be his WIFE, and i said YES! It was the most beautiful, perfect moment I could have ever asked for. I dreamed of this day since I was a little girl, and even in my dreams it wasn’t as sweet and perfect as my reality. The man of my dreams, the ring of my dreams, and a life so sweet and full of love I couldn’t begin to ask for. Laurie, with John Myers Photography captured the sweet moments I get to look back on forever, they are amazing! Roman, at Forever Diamond was a dream to work with Austin tells me, and I am over the moon of how perfect this moment was for the both of us. We are so excited to start our forever together, and are so thankful for all the friends, family, and all who were involved in the whole process. We are living a true love story, and it will only get sweeter with time. Timing is everything, and there is always a plan, this was ours.
